At Affirm Change with Life Coaching (ACWLC), our esteemed founders, Pastor Joy Young and Dr.Silvermoon Cashen, bring a wealth of experience and specialized expertise to our team as certified life coaches.
Pastor Joy Young hails from Passaic, NJ, and grew up in the small town of Haskell, NJ. Her diverse background includes roles as a waitress, security guard, marketer, and hospice worker. Joy's early influences include her father, a truck driver, and her mother, who was a talented USO performer and a Rosie the Riveter during World War II. Her academic achievements include an associate degree in gerontology. Joy’s journey of faith began at age 50, leading her to become a Pastor. Her extensive volunteer work spans women's prison ministry with Redeem Her, Vacation Bible School, and various retreats and Bible studies. Joy is a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she continues to provide care for her 93-year-old aunt.
Dr. Silvermoon Cashen grew up in Okeechobee, Florida. Her parents' careers ranged from agriculture to law enforcement and customer service. Dr. Cashen initially pursued a dream of becoming a Medical Doctor but shifted focus to earn a PhD in business and healthcare management. Her extensive experience in healthcare includes roles as a practice administrator, medical coder, and adjunct professor, as well as serving as the Director of Health Information Management at a hospice organization. Dr. Cashen’s entrepreneurial journey began at age 22 with Silvermoon’s Towing and Recovery, and she currently owns multiple businesses. She holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix, a PhD from North Central University, and she is a certified coder through the American Academy of Professional Coders. Dr. Cashen is a mother of six, including three adopted children, and a grandmother of four. Her hardest moment was caring for her parents until their passing, however, those moments she cherishes the time spent caring for them. Dr. Cashen is actively engaged in publishing studies and developing innovative methodologies, such as the Milestone Method™, to educate and guide the next generation of opportunists. Her ongoing efforts are dedicated to equipping aspiring individuals with the tools and insights necessary for their journey to success.
The inception of ACWLC was inspired by heartfelt conversations over weekly seafood dinners, where Joy and Silvermoon discussed their shared desire to assist others. Their commitment led them to obtain life coaching certifications and formalize their vision. During a pivotal weekend in Gainesville, they turned their plan into action, trusting in divine guidance to lead their path. Today, they are dedicated to mentoring clients, helping them envision and achieve their future goals.
With over 76 years of combined experience in service and mentorship, our founders are committed to continuing their legacy of empowering individuals and look forward to many more years of making a positive impact.
